Noisy refrigerators can be quite bothersome, but fear not! Let’s troubleshoot the common causes and find solutions:

Fan Blades: Excessive noise when opening refrigerator doors could indicate issues with the evaporator or condenser fan blades. First, inspect the evaporator fan behind the freezer back panel. Try rotating it by hand. If it doesn’t spin freely, check for obstructions or rubbing. Also, examine the condenser fan at the bottom back of the refrigerator for any blockages. Clearing obstructions and ensuring free movement of the blades can help reduce noise, especially when doors are opened1.

Compressor: A constantly running compressor might indicate a faulty compressor that needs replacement2.

Other Causes: Other common reasons for noisy refrigerators include:

Dirty condenser coils: Clean them to improve efficiency.

Unlevel placement: Ensure the fridge sits level on the floor.

Proximity to walls: Make sure it’s not too close to a wall

Faulty ice maker, evaporator, or water inlet valve: Replace or repair as needed
